I have used the DK Eyewitness guides before and find them great as a resource to carry with me when I travel. The maps are clear and easy to follow, the content is easy to read, and the visuals- of course - are outstanding. The other guides had content that was helpful to read before I went to Mexico City, but this guide was worth carrying along as we went to read about side trips, walking plans, and using the metro.
The absolutely most useless guide book I have ever purchased. Totally confusing presentation. Maps are useless----when they even bother with one. You're much better off to simply get a map from the hotel and not waste money on this "guide".
The Eyewitness Guides are long on illustrations and overall information and short on details. This is not an opinionated guide and it does not go into interpretive depth but it is a great for showing you how places look. I'd supplement this guide with a Lonely Planet or other style guide and between the two, you should have everything you need to plan your trip.

We love the DK series of travel books, a DK book is the first thing we purchase before going on our family vacations, great book!
Not enuf info on San Miguel de Allende, and other places. Some info was out of date. Fewer pretty photos and more substance preferred.
